La Ruta Maya Foundation started February 2017 with an activity organized by TRIGG County High School in Cadiz, Kentucky, United States, as part of the PBL (Project Based Learning) of the Foreign Language Class.

Teacher Mrs. Maureen Llarena contacted us to have a conversation with 9th grade students about pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures, especially Maya and Aztec. This initiative also promotes the knowledge of cultural diversity in the country, in the state and in the community, highlighting two high cultures that are native of the American continent.

By video-call we were able to link to the classroom and share on topics of archeology, art, math and calendar. We had an opportunity to hear about their different class projects, that students will carry out with their own research and the use of educational resources available to students (some of which can be found in the CHILDREN section of our website www.larutamaya.com.gt )
