Exhibition "MAYA: Das Rätsel der Königsstädte"
The Historisches Museum der Pfalz in Speyer (Germany), in close cooperation with Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms, the University of Bonn and the Drents Museum in Assen (Netherlands), opens to the public the great international exhibition "THE MYSTERY OF MAYA CITIES" from October 2, 2016 to April 23, 2017.
Exhibition "Human Figure and Body Decoration in Pre-Columbian Art"
La Ruta Maya Foundation, with the support of the Training Center of the Spanish Cooperation (CFCE, in Spanish) and the Embassy of Spain, presents the exhibition "Human Figure and Body Decoration in Pre-Columbian Art". This exhibition shows a selection of more than a hundred archaeological objects, with which it pretends to illustrate the concept and the representation of the human body; gestures and emotions; physical beauty and decoration; and well as how the changes and transformations of the body were portrayed among the ancient Maya. This show is possible thanks to the support the Training Center of the Spanish Cooperation(CFCE), Comunicación Estratégica (CE), Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain, Paiz-Schloesser Family, Paiz Foundation for Education and Culture, PubliRUTA & Consortium of National Radios (CRN) y Occidente Insurance Company.
Exhibition "THE MAYA, RULERS OF THE RAINFOREST"
The Drents Museum in Assen, Netherlands, is currently showing the great international exhibition "MAYA, RULERS OF THE RAINFOREST", which is open to the public from February 28 to September 4, 2016. Afterwards it will travel to the Historisches Museum der Pfalz in Speyer, Germany, to be seen from October 2, 2016 to April 23, 2017. Most of the exhibits on loan come from Guatemala, mainly from La Ruta Maya Foundation and The National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology MUNAE (both in Guatemala City), as well as some objects from the "Dr. Juan Antonio Valdés" Museum/ Herrera Collection (Uaxactún, Petén). The exhibition also features various objects from the Ethnologisches Museum (Berlin), the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum (Cologne) and other museums.
Exhibition "The Maya Water World"
La Ruta Maya Conservation Foundation, with the support of the Training Center of the Spanish Cooperation (CFCE, in Spanish) and the Embassy of Spain, opened the exhibition "The Maya Water World". This exhibition presented almost a hundred Pre-Columbian objects whose materials and shapes are related to the aquatic and coastal marine world, illustrating the importance of water in nature, daily life, diet, trade, and ritual.
